WHAT TO DO AFTER A CAR ACCIDENT
Oct 21, 2021
Car accidents can be sudden, traumatic experiences regardless if you have been involved in one before. There are some simple rules to follow to ensure you are in the best position if an insurance claim is made.
After the accident:
Check yourself and your passengers for injuries, visible or not.
Call or have someone at the scene call for assistance.
Document everything at the scene:
Take photographs/video of the property damage and visible injuries;
Write down the names of those involved and exchange insurance information;
If you are able, talk to any witnesses near the scene and get their information;
Notify your insurance company of the accident.
The accident report is generally ready within 7-10 days after the accident unless a fatality is involved. Be sure and follow up with the department handling the accident to obtain a copy.
If you have been involved in an accident through no fault of your own, contact us to discuss your claim.
